Create custom 404 page
If someone comes to a page on your site that does not exist they will get what is called a 404 error. If you do nothing that persons browser will provide a generic 404 error. If you provide a custom 404 the person still gets to your site. Make the 404 page look just like your site. A lot of people like to send the person right to the home page. It is better to create something that is helpful. Provide a note explaining what has happened and at the very least provide a search box and a list of your top pages. If you are good at coding or can hire a coder you can try to determine what they were looking for and provide search results that match what they were looking for.
