Website log files – search engine referrers
Most stat programs have a search engine or keyword section. They will have them separated by search engine. This helps you know what people are typing in the search engines to get to your site. You can use this information to help your keyword research. You will find keywords that you never thought of. One of the reasons of creating new content constantly is that you will rank for terms you never thought of. Sometimes I will see a new term show up in my log files and I rank on the first page of results without trying. I can then go to that page and focus my efforts on that one term to get it to number one.
