Create a sitemap
When you first design a website the first thing you should do is design a sitemap. You still need to create a sitemap if you already have a site. A sitemap is a page that is just made up of links to all your web pages. A sitemap can also be an xml or text file that you submit to search engines. What this does is make it easy for the search engines to find all your pages. Sitemaps are also helpful for your visitors. If you have a lot of pages a sitemap can make it easier for your visitors to find things. Blind people using screen readers or Braille displays like to use them as well.
Yahoo and Google have a place where you can submit your sitemap. Google has
webmaster central where you can get lots of data about your website such as back links, last spider crawl, and site errors. Google has also started telling website owners if they are hosting trojans or viruses on your site. There is a lot more at webmaster central and they are adding new stuff all the time.
