"It is not fair for a company who has won the game to make sure the other players lose even worse."

I might add to that comment... Since when was life fair when it comes to competition? Every kid, adult, company or any other entity LOVES to win and win big, even at the cost of others lack of satisfaction.

Now, as I joked about with my fiance last night... Your right, who tells there clients "Try yahooing for ". Very few people say anything less than "Try Googling for ".

There are a few reasons I feel people do this. People can relate to "Google it". They've heard it or done it enough that it becomes second nature. The second reason plays off of the first reason... everyone knows that Google is the big dog. To tell someone to "Yahoo it" ... that is almost an instant red flag for companies looking for SEO work when they know Google is the biggest.

So yes I do agree that once brands, regardless of businesess make it into the household - it's here to stay....UNLESS - they majorly screw up like Enron :-)

I like your use of the word "clutter". Yahoo's toolbar is clutter and takes up valuable montor screen space. Google understands the importance of simplicity. They have their colorful logo, a couple of links and that's it. Works for me!
